Primrose is a perennial herbaceous plant with rich and bright flower colors and elegant posture. It is suitable for potted indoor viewing in winter. Some species can be used as spring open-field flower beds, flower borders, rock gardens, wetlands, wild gardens and other landscaping plantings.
🥰Ornamental form:
Plant shape: upright and clustered.
Flowers: terminal whorled umbels, elevated above the leaves. Often arranged in umbels or flower heads, sometimes solitary or in racemes. The flowers are red, white, blue, purple, yellow and other colors, and have a pleasant fragrance.
Flowering period: December to May (with proper maintenance, it can bloom all year round)
Habits: It likes a cool climate, semi-shady and humid environment and well-drained soil rich in humus. It is intolerant to high temperatures and strong direct sunlight, and most are intolerant to severe cold. The suitable growth temperature is 15~18℃.
🌱Propagation, cultivation and maintenance:
1. Mainly propagate by seeds. Use seeding boxes or shallow pots for sowing. Because the seeds are small, they do not need to be covered with soil after sowing. Germination is completed in 10-28 days, and the optimum temperature is 15-21°C. The sowing time depends on the desired flowering period.
2. The planting depth should be moderate. If it is too deep, it will cause root rot, and if it is too shallow, it will cause lodging. Water and fertilize frequently during the growing period, and pay attention to air circulation.
3. During the flowering period, the temperature is preferably around 10°C, otherwise the flowering will be poor. When the sun is strong, provide shade to ensure the flowers are brightly colored.
4. During the summer, you should pay attention to ventilation, provide shade and prevent showers, and use measures such as spraying, scaffolding, and ground watering to cool down.
5. In winter, the minimum indoor night temperature should be controlled at around 5℃, and the temperature should not be too high. After the flowers fade, cut off the remaining flowers in time and apply a thin fertilizer 1 to 2 times to facilitate the growth of new flower branches and continue to bloom.
